Viral Kbeauty Products from Tiktok

Here’s a roundup of viral Kbeauty products I keep seeing on Tiktok. Are they worth the hype? Let’s find out!

Should you take Kbeauty recommendations from Tiktok?

Like other search engine algorithms, Tiktok shows you videos based on your interests and demographics, including where you live. Since I live in America, many of the kbeauty videos I see are still by people based in the US, so I already know it’s not the most up to date information. Note that many of the viral Tiktok creators are VERY young, meaning their skin already looks pretty nice and wrinkle free! So we need to take Tiktok skincare recommendations with a grain of salt. However, it is nice to see reviews from people who live in similar climates and with similar beauty standards and routines as we do, so that’s good information to have too. Let’s dive in!

Laneige Cream Skin

I feel like 2022 was the year of Laneige Cream Skin! It was EVERYWHERE on the internet! At first, I didn’t really understand what it was. Is it a moisturizer? Is it a toner? It literally is a perfect combination of both. It’s soothing, hydrating, and actually does leave your skin feeling like you’ve just put on a cream. People online seem to love it for simplifying their beauty routine. I use it both as one of my (many) steps in my skincare routine, but also as a quick post-workout moisturizer. Laneige sells directly on Amazon and at Sephora. Highly recommend!

Beauty of Joseon Sun Relief

This Beauty of Joseon sunscreen went viral on both Tiktok and Reddit. My sister gifted it to me for Christmas, actually! Like most Asian sunscreens, it feels like putting on a lightweight moisturizer – no thick, chalky texture. Is it significantly better than other Asian sunscreens? I don’t see a huge difference. But in any case, it’s WAY nicer than typical western sunscreens, so I still recommend it! Beauty of Joseon does sell on Amazon, but as this product often sells out, PLEASE be careful. Amazon may automatically redirect you to a third party seller that may not be reliable. If you’re willing to wait for shipping, you can find BoJ on Yesstyle.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Another Laneige viral hit! The Laneige lip sleeping mask really is amazing. It’s like a super thick lip balm that you’re meant to put on overnight. It really does keep my lips from getting chapped, even in the cold winter months with the heater running all night! Why is this any different from other lip balms? I have no idea! But it works! Available on Amazon and Sephora.

CosRX snail mucin line

CosRX is a well known Kbeauty brand that was one of the first to go viral in the US. And for good reason! Their products are no-frills, usually unscented, and most importantly, effective! Their snail mucin line went viral on Tiktok for being amazingly hydrating. Snail mucin products have been popular in Kbeauty for a long time, but CosRX really upped their game with an entire line of snail products for basically your whole routine. Now, to be real, I tried these products, and they were great. But not life changing. I do feel like they were similar to other snail mucin Kbeauty products. But, as advertised, they were indeed hydrating! CosRX is sold on Amazon and Ulta, if you want to give it a try yourself!

Etude Soon Jung

The most viral of the viral Kbeauty products: Etude SoonJung! Seriously, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more hyped product. BUT THE HYPE IS REAL! There’s a whole SoonJung line, but the most beloved seems to be the barrier intensive cream. It’s advertised as being packed with ceramides and perfect for soothing irritated, sensitive skin. I tried it this year… and it really is great. It’s just a perfect moisturizer. Available on Amazon and Sokoglam!

As you can see, some of the Kbeauty that’s going viral in non-Asian countries are brands like Laneige and CosRX, which were some of the first to be sold at major US retailers. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better or worse, but that America may be slightly behind on new viral Kbeauty products. Still, I actually do enjoy these products and recommend them.
