As much as I spent pretty much all of September complaining about the end of summer, I was dang quick to google “Pumpkin Patches Near Seattle” as soon as the temperature dropped. Last year, Jeremy and I kept waiting for a sunny day to go to a pumpkin patch. Cue the laugh track. We live in Seattle. It didn’t happen. So this year when the sun expectedly poked out Saturday morning, we beelined for Fall City Farms!
I hadn’t actually heard of Fall City Farms prior to this year. I know that Oxbow Farm and Jubilee Farm have big harvest festivals, with lots of other activities besides pumpkin patches. A lot of farms boast corn mazes, carnival rides, food trucks, live music, and more. Jemma is not really old enough to enjoy those activities, which I’m glad for. I don’t really like crowds. Or noise. Or paying for rides. (Once you’re a Disneyland annual passholder, nothing else is worth it.)
Fall City Farms’ pumpkin patch was perfect for us. Okay fine, for me. It was small, not crowded at all, and beautifully quiet. Upon arrival, there are some picnic tables set up and a couple fall pumpkin displays. Pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors line a few long tables.
There’s also a fun display of pumpkins and hay bales, with a sitting area.
And a neat wooden structure with pumpkins displayed in the walls.
When we finished taking photos, we walked right on into the pumpkin patch. Entrance to the patch is free, and the farm provides wagons to borrow to wheel your pumpkins.
If you plan on buying pumpkins, YOU WILL NEED THE WAGON. HOLY COW THOSE WERE BIG PUMPKINS. I clearly have not been to enough farms or pumpkin patches, because those were the biggest pumpkins I’ve ever seen.
Jemma looooooved the pumpkin patch. Her favorite activities included pointing out all the bugs and trying to sit on the pumpkins.
After thoroughly testing the sit-ability of the pumpkins, we headed back out to grab some cider and donuts. On the way back to our car we stopped by a row of sunflowers for some last photos.
All in all, we had such a fun time! Next year, we will definitely coming back prepared to find a giant pumpkin to carve. If you guys know of any other fun fall activities that a California girl like me needs to try, please let me know!
