It’s mid-May, and I finally feel like I am in the swing of things for our pandemic-induced distance learning. Of course, now that I say that, I’ve jinxed myself and something crazy will change in our remote learning plans. Anyway, just to recap, since public schools in Washington are doing distance learning through the rest of the year, I’ve been putting together Seesaw speech therapy lessons for my elementary school students. If you haven’t already, go check out my last blog post to see my collection of stuttering and narrative language lessons. For articulation and more, keep reading!
Articulation Seesaw Lessons
These articulation lessons are NOT sound specific. They are meant to be used for students who already know which sounds they are working on and have been successful at producing those sounds at least in isolation with some cueing. Each lesson here describes an activity that can be used to practice the sound and gives instructions on how to make their practice easier or harder, depending on their level. Again, what I like about Seesaw is that the students can record themselves so that I can hear their progress and give them direction for their home practice. Check out the different activities below!
- Make flashcards and play memory
- Flashcard hide and seek
- Flashlight flashcards
- Scavenger hunt
- Dice game
- Target practice
WH- Question Syntax Lessons
I’ve got a few students working on asking questions in conversation (social skills) and mastering wh- question grammar. The lessons below are literacy based! They involve watching a read aloud of a story and interviewing someone with story-related questions. This is GREAT because it can be paired with the narrative language lessons from my last post. And when we get back to face-to-face speech therapy, I can use these same read aloud videos to run mixed language groups! So save these links even if you’re not working on wh-questions right now because I guarantee they’ll be useful in the future!
- Judy Hopps and the Missing Jumbo Pop
- Please Please the Bees
- Forky in Craft Buddy Day
- I Want My Hat Back
- Clark the Shark
- Snappsy the Alligator
Teachers Pay Teachers on Seesaw
Here’s a little bonus tip: If you already have some lessons on Teachers Pay Teachers or any PDF that you already love, it’s SUPER EASY to transfer it to Seesaw. When you create an assignment and add a template, simply upload the pdf. Each page of the pdf becomes a page in your template! A lot of my lessons for yes/no questions and vocabulary were made that way. Since I didn’t create the original pdfs, I’m not going to list them all here so as not to take credit, but I’ll list a couple examples so you can see how well they transfer.
I hope this was helpful for you guys! Please let me know if there are other speech language pathology-related blog posts you’d like me to write! And thank you to all the parents, teachers, and educators who are making home-learning possible during this tough time 🙂
